The event on August 15, 2024, was truly a spectacular occasion as the world-famous Budweiser Clydesdales made their highly anticipated appearance in Margate. From 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, locals and visitors alike gathered on South Cedar Grove Avenue to witness this magnificent display of tradition and quality, a symbol of Anheuser-Busch since 1933. The painstakingly delicate process of harnessing the eight-horse hitch and attaching it to the iconic red Budweiser beer wagon captivated onlookers from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm.

At 3:00 pm, the majestic Clydesdales began their impressive circuit around Margate, drawing admiration from the crowds as streets were temporarily closed for their grand procession. The hitch turned onto Atlantic Avenue, traveling south towards Longport, with a special stop in front of Lucy the Elephant for photos. Continuing along Washington Avenue and Ventnor Avenue, the horses made memorable stops in front of the Historical Society building and fire station #1, before concluding their journey back on South Cedar Grove Avenue.

This rare appearance was part of the Clydesdales’ annual tour, a team that had already dazzled audiences at the Tournament of Roses Parade, the St. Louis Cardinals’ opening day, and Daytona Beach Bike Week earlier this year. The sight of these giant, muscular draft horses, bred for farm work and now used primarily for breeding and shows, was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for many in the downbeach area.

The Budweiser Clydesdales, standing at 18 hands tall and weighing an impressive 2,000 pounds each, were truly a sight to behold. Although no one was permitted to touch the horses, spectators were able to appreciate their beauty up close as they made their way through the streets of Margate. Despite the weather conditions needing to be just right for the safety of the Clydesdales, everything aligned perfectly, and the event was a huge success, leaving lasting memories for everyone in attendance.

The event would not have been possible without the tremendous support of Margate City and the dedicated efforts of Margate City Police. Their commitment ensured that everything ran smoothly, from the street closures to the seamless flow of the day’s events. A special thank you also goes to Anheuser-Busch’s Folds of Honor program, whose continued dedication to bringing the iconic Budweiser Clydesdales to select communities like Margate made this extraordinary experience possible. Their hard work and coordination allowed this once-in-a-lifetime spectacle to be enjoyed by all, creating memories that will last a lifetime.
