Lucy the Elephant is the world’s largest elephant “building”, a hotel and a National Historic Landmark. She was born 1881 and overlooks the Atlantic Ocean. The official description is a six-story elephant-shaped example of novelty architecture, constructed of wood and tin sheeting in 1881 by James V. Lafferty in Margate City, New Jersey. She is open for school trips, tours and group overnights. But, if you ask us, she’s the coolest museum ever because she’s in our hometown!
